Yes – when carried out by a dentist or hygienist it is extremely safe. It is important to remember that it is illegal in the UK for anyone other than a dentist or hygienist to carry out teeth whitening procedures.

Some patients experience some mild sensitivity when whitening their teeth, but this stops as soon as the whitening procedure has finished. Enlighten however carries a much lower sensitivity levels compared with other whitening systems available on the market through their specially formulated gels, tooth serum and desensitising swabs, all provided within your kit.

Enlighten carries a guarantee that you will reach a B1 shade, and will lighten your teeth up to 16 shades. This is the only system on the market that carries these guarantees. Your dentist will check the shade of your teeth beforehand and show you B1 on a shade tab for your reference.

Any crowns, fillings or dental bonding already on your teeth will not whiten and change colour with teeth whitening procedures. It may be necessary to have these replaced afterwards, but this will be discussed prior to starting. Please advise the dentist if you have had any work on your front teeth carried out.

The entire treatment takes about 4 weeks from start to finish, this includes the 2 weeks of whitening at home and your in surgery treatment session. The results generally last 18-24 months but can be topped up. As long as your trays fit and are kept safe, we can sell top up syringes to our patients to boost their whitening if they notice the colour starting to fade.
