OVERVIEW

SINUS LIFT QUORN

A sinus lift, alternatively referred to as sinus augmentation, is a process involving the integration of bone between your jaw and the maxillary sinus in your upper jaw. This step is crucial when there is inadequate bone height in the jaw, or if the sinuses’ base is too close to the intended area for implant insertion.

Dr Ravi attentively organises this procedure using data gathered during the initial consultation and from the x-rays and CT scans conducted. These imaging methods allow for exact measurement of your existing bone’s height and width and an exhaustive evaluation of your sinus health.

QUESTIONS ABOUT

THIS TREATMENT

This procedure becomes necessary when there’s insufficient bone height in the jaw or the sinus floor is too proximate to the proposed implant site. Several factors contribute to these conditions, including:

  • A prolonged duration since teeth loss – Upon tooth loss, bone resorption (re-absorption back into the body) begins. This process continues over time; the longer the gap endures, the greater the bone reduction.
  • Prior periodontal disease – Periodontal disease prompts bone loss around the teeth, potentially leading to tooth loss and a significant decrease in bone levels.
  • Unique anatomical characteristics such as enlarged sinuses or reduced bone presence.
  • Chronic infection – A long-standing tooth infection untreated with root canal treatment or extraction can progressively erode bone, leading to a decrease in bone level and density.

This procedure carries certain risks, which Dr Ravi will thoroughly explain. We strive to collaborate with our patients to minimise these risks and ensure your comfort during treatment.

Dental implants have a high success rate provided they receive proper care. You’ll be instructed on how to clean around your implant, and we strongly endorse regular appointments with our hygienist to optimise cleaning effectiveness.

It’s recommended that you brush your teeth twice daily, preferably using an electric toothbrush, and consistently clean between your teeth and around your dental implant with floss or interdental brushes.

We recommend routine visits to our clinic, typically twice a year, where your dentist will assess the health of your implant.
